Call for Papers (IWMRTA Workshop)

International Workshop on Millimeter-wave Radar Technology and Application

to be held in conjunction with

The 11th EAI International Conference on Mobile Multimedia Communications (MobiMedia 2018)

  • When: 21-22 June 2018
  • Where: Qingdao, China
  • Submission Deadline: March 10, 2018
  • Notification Due: April 10, 2018
  • Final Version Due: April 30, 2018

Millimeter-wave (mm-wave) radar, operating in the spectrum from 30GHz to 300GHz, is originated from the military field to be used for the detection and recognition of enemy targets. Due to the properties of short wavelength and broad bandwidth, it can also be applied to estimate the signal parameters of micro-motion target, such as micro-Doppler, high-precision angular and ranging measurements.

Recently, with the fast development of semiconductor device, the mm-wave radar shows the trend toward the miniaturization and low cost. Today, more and more mm-wave radar applications have been widely used in our daily life, such as Car Navigation System (CNS), drone environment perception, target detection and classification, human-computer interaction, intelligent factory system, and smart health-care. Up to now, the studies of mm-wave radar mainly focus on the fields including the signal parameters estimation, multi-target acquisition and tracking, and target detection and classification, and meanwhile these studies involve the techniques like pattern recognition, deep learning, and data fusion.

This workshop focuses on the mm-wave radar technology and application, spanning from the mm-wave radar technology like radar parameters estimation, radar system design, multi-target acquisition and tracking, target detection and classification to its applications. The intention is to provide a comprehensive coverage of mm-wave radar substantial progress including the methodologies, theories, and practices. Topics of interest to this workshop include, but are not limited to:

  1. mm-wave radar parameters estimation.
  2. Multi-target acquisition and tracking
  3. Noise suppression under complex environment
  4. Target detection and classification
  5. Applications of pattern recognition, deep learning and data fusion in mm-wave radar.
  6. Multi-sensor fusion system
